THE LEGEND OF RIP VAN QUIXOTE

Legend has it that Rip Van Quixote partied a little too hard one night in the mid-90s and woke up 30 years later with everything changed but his desire to make music. He then set out on his quest to release all of the music that haunted his dreams during his long sleep, plus new songs speaking to the current state of affairs he finds himself in.

He describes himself as genre-fluid, with songs ranging from Murder Ballad Americana (Venus Flytrap), to Dance (My Dream Of You), Rockabilly (Zombified) to Pop (Nothin'), Country (A Good Man) to Alternative Rock (Do Ya?) to Classic 50s-style Rock and Roll (Fit To Be Tied). Rip will neither confirm nor deny any double-entendre or innuendo in certain songs (Zombified, Fit To Be Tied, Rattle My Cage) and vehemently denies that he is a stage persona for Tully Franks, songwriter and producer, and considers such accusations slanderous and insulting. For one thing, Rip wears much better hats.

Lyrical content deals with wrestling with insecurities as a person (A Good Man, Do Ya?, Hare's Lament, Not Done Yet), the onstage experience (Song For Vampires, Tiger In My Pocket), sexuality and relationships (Zombified, Rattle My Cage, Fit To Be Tied), and failed romantic relationships (So…, Fall, Built for Two, A Happy Song). A number of songs deal with socio-political issues from domestic violence (She Thinks) to genocide (Cycle of Pain) to police brutality (Please Stand By, Blue Light Special).

Needless to say, with three decades dozing there's quite a backlog of material but Rip promises to fervently play catch-up even as he continues to create new material and looks forward to releasing numerous songs and albums in the coming months. He appreciates your indulgence as he is a bit of a late-bloomer.

Rip is reluctant to do interviews, preferring to defer to producer Tully Franks for answering questions regarding the music (though he has been known to allow the infamous puppet Ferdinand speak on his behalf at times). Rip is also reluctant to do live shows at this time as he holds himself to a very high standard but is certainly open to the possibility of future performances should the fans demand it.

Thank you for your time…and attention.
